We now have official confirmation of the launch of the new camera Ricoh GXR. The camera based his presentation on a system in which the objectives are shared through the installation of a sliding mechanism. The item being exchanged is called the camera unit and is composed by the lens, the image sensor and image processing engine. Thus, the body of the camera does not have an image sensor.

The featured by magnesium alloy body and multiple camera units that can be exchanged to suit the type of scene to be photographed. Now not only will change the target as the scene until the sensor and image processor. This, Ricoh promises image quality and shooting flexibility.

This is a very compact and lightweight camera and prevent dust and dirt from entering the sensor, it is never exposed when we perform the change of camera unit.

So far the two modules presented are one with 50mm macro and 12-megapixel CMOS sensor, and a more economical and common, a 24-72 mm objective with 10-megapixel CCD sensor. What a mess, right?

The Ricoh GXR camera screen is 3 inches and nearly a million pixels of resolution, with external electronic viewfinder if we buy it.

The price of the Ricoh GXR body will be less than 500 euros, with modules for different prices, somewhat lower as higher. Will he succeed this strange Ricoh bet? Micro four thirds system seems to run more than common sense.
